For me street photography is not only a means of creative expression, it is a problem solving game where I have to complete a jigsaw puzzle without knowing what the final picture will look like. I love the challenge of being faced with an environment made of moving parts that I have no control over other than how I frame the scene, and the moment I hit the shutter. I not only photograph ‘in’ colour, but ‘about’ colour. It is often the first thing my eye is drawn to, and it becomes another piece of the puzzle along with the moment, the light, and the background. I find photography is a kind of meditation too, especially when I lose myself in the moment and achieve a feeling that all my awareness has moved to what’s happening in front of me, and what I’m observing is the only thing that exists.
